Jiangxi, a province with a wealth of resources, will boost collaboration with Hong Kong in tourism to achieve a win-win situation.

From May 16 to 18, a series of events promoting investment opportunities in Jiangxi’s tourism industry will be launched as part of the Jiangxi-Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference in the city.

Highlights will include an investment fair and a study tour project in which Hong Kong students will be invited to visit Jiangxi — a treasure trove of tourist attractions.

Jiangxi boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage, including Jinggang Mountain — the “cradle of the Chinese revolution” — and Jingdezhen, a city known as the world’s capital of porcelain.

Located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the province also owns outstanding natural scenery in places such as the Lushan Mountain and Poyang Lake, China’s biggest fresh water lake.

All these tourism resources could be a “shiny calling card” for Jiangxi, and they are also the precious resources for the province’s future development, said Liu Qi, governor of the province.

In Jiangxi, 10 national 5A-level tourist attractions and 105 4A-level scenic spots scatter over a total area of 166,900 square kilometers.

Jiangxi’s tourism revenue achieves an annual growth rate of more than 30 percent, with Hong Kong being its biggest overseas tourist source, according to Liu’s keynote speech at last year’s conference.

According to media reports, in 2015, about 602,000 tourists from Hong Kong visited Jiangxi, accounting for more than one third of overseas travelers to the province.

To attract more visitors from the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, Jiangxi established a tourism promotion center in Hong Kong last year. It has also founded a tourism alliance with Hong Kong travel agencies.

According to Jiangxi’s project list of tourism investments for last year, 120 projects with a total investment worth 157 billion yuan (US$25 billion) were included. These offer enormous opportunities for Hong Kong enterprises.

In its 17th year, the JiangxiHong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference will be open to Shenzhen enterprises for the fi rst time this year.
