BANGKOK — Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan on Wednesday held separate talks with Vietnamese and Lao defense ministers during the 13th ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Defense Ministers Meeting (ADMM) in Bangkok, said deputy Defense Ministry spokesman Col Phatchasak Patirupanon.

Prawit chairs the 13th ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting which runs from Wednesday to Friday.
Thailand has pushed for the inclusion of the ASEAN Defense Medic Center into the ASEAN Charter, the deputy spokesman said.

While meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Ngo Xuan Lich, Prawit offered to provide data and guidelines for Vietnam to act as chair of the ADMM and ADMM-Plus next year.
The Vietnamese defense minister offered to strengthen military relationships between the two countries, particularly in terms of logistics, defense industry and peace-keeping efforts.
The Thai defense minister also met with his Lao counterpart Chansamone Chanyalath and hailed the bilateral relationship in terms of military cooperation.
The Lao defense minister congratulated Thailand on its chairmanship of the 13th ADMM and offered to support the ADMM-Plus, scheduled for the end of this year, and a joint naval exercise between ASEAN and the United States. The Lao side thanked Thailand for humanitarian aid.
Besides, the Thai defense minister met with ASEAN Secretary General Dato Lim Jock Hoi and thanked him for providing support for Thailand to host the ADMM and ADMM-Plus.
The ASEAN secretary general congratulated Thailand on successfully organizing a recent ASEAN summit and the current ADMM as well as on raising the sustainable security issue which was considered a key factor for solutions to regional problems.
